Trip to the Mountain

So we finally got to go snow boarding together on Dec. 15th, 2007. I (Liz) had never been, and Charlie is an old pro. We got up bright and early to go pick up the babysitter, met up with friends Grant & Brandy (also old pros), and followed them out to Big Bear. For my sake we started out at the bunny hill. I think we went down that 3 times and decided to hit the slopes. It was hilarious to watch me try to get off the lift with my snowboard. For those that aren't familiar...you have one foot hooked into the snowboard while riding the lift. When it's time to get off, the lift does not slow down and you have to put your other foot (not strapped in) on the board and ride it down the little hill and get out of everyone's way, cuz there are people on the chair behind you about to get off. Well...let's just say that was probably the hardest part about snowboarding for me! When I'd get off I'd tip over and block the way and they'd be yelling at me get up! Get out of the way! I was army crawling, trying to drag my body out the way as quickly as possible! I spent the rest of the day on the Snow Summit run (next step up from the bunny hill) and it was challenging, but very fun. By the end of the day I had black and blue wrists from all the falls, and a few bruises on my body from running into other people and them into me. And talk about being SORE for the next few days. ..that is a GOOD workout! Charlie was the sweetest, he stayed with me the whole time, right behind me to help me get up when I would fall and comfort me when I cried from the pain. Overall it was such a fun, beautiful day together, and we hope to go at least one more time this season!

Liz that is too funny! I could see you just trying to crawl out of the way! I have a feeling I'd have a hard time getting off the lifts too!

You had me laughing! It brought back memories of my first skiing experience, however I hear snowboarding is harder. You are awesome to do it. How fun! And wasn't Charlie a Saint, my sister-in-law's boyfriend (now husband) wasn't near as kind on her first boarding experience.
