The Blackburn Five: Drex's 5th Birthday!

Drex turned 5 on August 20th, he was so excited and could hardly wait to finally be five like his friends and cousins MJ and Cece. He was asking me daily when he was going to be five and was counting down the days! So finally the day arrived and now he's asking me when he is going to turn 6! Ha!! Aren't kids funny??!! So here are some photos from his birthday party. We made it simple by having it at the local Mojave Narrows Regional Park. It is a really nice place with camping, horse riding, camels, fishing and more. Our friends & family met us at the park area where they have a really nice and spacious playground area and a water area where water shoots out of the ground and other play structures in that area. At first we thought the party was doomed because it was very hot that afternoon and the water area was closed. There was a huge pit dug nearby where people were working on getting the water up and running again. Well, it was our lucky day because after about 15 minutes all the sudden the water starts shooting out of all the spouts and we were in business!! Whew!!

We set up on a couple of picnic tables there and fed everyone pizza, soda and cupcakes. I bought way too much pizza and the kids hardly ate any! They were too busy playing and having fun to care about food! After awhile we gathered up the kids for the pinata. We bought a different kind this year, instead of usual beat it with a stick kind this was a pull-string pinata. Everybody grabs a string and pulls and someone's string pulls the latch open and out falls the goodies! I don't know that I liked it as well as the typical pinata but at least there was no chance of anyone getting whacked with a stick!!

All in all it was a fun time for all and we appreciated our friends and family for coming to celebrate with us. We love you so much Drex and wish you a wonderful 5th year!
